Matsatsantsa launch Soccer Schools
Reigning Telkom Knockout champions SuperSport United launched a Soccer Schools programme on Wednesday evening.
The announcement took place at the Kappa Concept Store Value Mart in Woodmead, Johannesburg.
Present at the launch was the Matsatsantsa CEO Stan Matthews, Nick Aresti of the Soccer Schools, Academy Technical Director Kwanele Kopo and the six SA under17 members (Mondli Mpoto, Khanyisa Mayo, Katlego Mohamme, Simon Nqoi, Nelson Maluleke and Athenkosi Dlala) who will be representing the nation in the 2015 under17 FIFA World Cup in Chile in October.
This is the first ever Soccer Schools programme to be launched by a professional football club in South Africa and will look to give an opportunity to many young aspiring football players to be under the United umbrella.
Matsatsantsa have a reputation of grooming quality players who have since gone to represent the South African Football Association (SAFA) from the junior levels right up to Bafana Bafana.
Currently, Matsatsantsa have 10 members doing duty for both the under17 and under20 squads.
Notably, the Tshwane-based-outfit Academy coaches have produced over 40 players who represented various teams in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
