The first award in the Skills badge challenge is the take-off point for all children and provides a good framework from which to develop all the skills needed for the awards challenge. Children will become proficient at 'Core Dribbling Skills', 'Two-footed Juggling' and 'Accurate Passing'. Many hours of practice are required to pass the Level 1 stage. The second level challenges players to improve their ball control and foot speed to a standard higher than that of a young Professional Academy player. Children now have to carry out the core skills with a greater degree of accomplishment and must also have mastered more of the skills from the 'Moves 2 Beat Players' and 'Changes of Direction / Turns' syllabus. The Bronze award recognises children who have achieved a good level of technical skill and ball control. Young players at this level will be amongst the best for their age in their region or city. Hundreds of hours of practice will have been spent with the ball, in order to achieve this award. Youngsters who reach Level 3 will now be really starting to express their creativity and technique during matches, making them dangerous attacking players. Children who have achieved this award will be recognised as players who have worked hard to improve their skills and now posses an very high level of technical ability. A child who has achieved Level 4 will be more technically advanced than the vast majority of young British players. The level 4 silver award is an excellent achievement for any young footballer. This represents the pinnacle of technical excellence and any young player who achieves this award will have given themselves the best possible chance of developing a career in football at the highest level. Without doubt, this is an extremely hard award to achieve and it will have taken thousands of hours of practice to reach this elite level. A Level 5 player will truly be one of the Worlds most skilful young players.
